Nightlife at Cumbuco, Brazil

Cumbuco is a small laid back village, with some nice bars along the beach.
For big clubs you go to Fortaleza. On Thursdays Orbita is the most popular club to be, as many students go there than. On Friday and Saturday it’s Mucuripe time. This club has six different dance areas and it goes on until early in the morning.
Shopping

Cumbuco has several small shops. You’ll find all basics here. There are some supermarkets, surf shops, tourist shops, bakeries, etc.

If you really fancy shopping you should go to Fortaleza (just 30 km from Cumbuco). You can shop local handcrafts in Mercado Central. For locally produced clothing in small shops you go to Avenida Monsenhor Tabosa. Western style shopping can be done in a huge shopping mall like Iguatemi or a smaller and more stylish one Aldeota Shopping.
Very much worthwile is also Beira Mar, a 8 km long boulevard. Go there just before sunset and you will see many people doing sports, and the night market opens up at 6pm.
Kitesurfing on the beach of Cumbuco

The beach of Cumbuco, is considered one of the best places in Brazil, better said, in the world for the practicing of kitesurfing. Cumbuco has a beautifull spacious beach with nice clean sand. Ideal for kitesurfing and easy launching your kite and it’s right in front of the Windtown Hotel.

Horse riding

Make the sunset horse ride trip of your life along the beach and through the lagoons. For sure you will see wild horses on the way.

Highlands

Besides the famous coast, Ceará, Brazil, has also a big tourist potential in the countryside, with the rainforests and waterfalls of the Highlands (such as Ibiapaba, Araripe, Meruoca and Guaramiranga).

The city of Santana do Cariri, in the more elevated areas of Serra do Araripe, is also noted for its great paleontological importance, being the place of major searches and discoveries (including a new species of dinosaur, the Santanaraptor placidus).

Paragliding, hang gliding, climbing

Ceará, Brazil, has some semi-arid regions which are ideal for tourists who like extreme sports and adventure, especially the town of Quixadá, a famous spot for paragliding, hang gliding and climbing.

Surfing near the hotel

Surfing is very popular, especially on Praia de Futuro in Fortaleza. Cumbuco also offers some surfing and surf shops. The best waves in Cumbuco can be found halfway towards the lagoon. This is just a few kilometers away from the Windtown Hotel.

Brazilian culture

Since the end of the 19th century, the city of Fortaleza (at a distance of 30 km from Cumbuco) has been home to various cultural institutions. The Instituto do Ceará (Ceará Institute) was established in 1887, and conducts research in history, geography and anthropology. The Academia Cearense de Letras (Cearense Academy of Letters) was the first institution of the sort in the country, established on August 15, 1894. In 1892, Fortaleza was the site of a cultural movement of literary expression called “Spiritual Bakery”. There are many other cultural centers, such as the Banco do Nordeste Cultural Centre and the Dragão do Mar Center of Art and Culture. The folklore of Fortaleza in Brazil is rich and diverse, and has roots in a mixture of beliefs originating from white colonisers and native groups. Minor, but also considered important, are Syrian-Lebanese and African traditions.
